Meet the Center Director

Matt Connolly

Matt Connolly has been part of the Kids After Hours family for over 20 years and brings creativity, energy, and a deep love for working with kids. Inspired by longtime Executive Director Dave Sweet, he leads a program built on community—where more than 75% of his staff are former KAH kids. Outside of KAH, Matt enjoys painting custom shoes and spending time with his wife Leigh, their dog, and a few lively fish. He’s grateful for the chance to watch children grow and to be part of their school-year journey.

Meet the Center Director

Abel Zemichael

Abel Zemichael has been part of the Kids After Hours family for 12 years, creating a supportive, fun, and welcoming environment where kids can grow and thrive. One of his favorite parts of the job is seeing former KAH kids return as staff—proof of the strong community he helps build. A proud Albert Einstein High School graduate, Abel once dreamed of becoming an astronaut, but found his true mission in guiding and inspiring kids here on Earth. Outside of KAH, he enjoys playing basketball and sketching.

Meet the Center Director

Scarlett Rodriguez

Scarlett Rodriguez has been part of Kids After Hours since 2015, bringing ten years of fun, creativity, and heart to her work with children. She began working with kids at age 15 through her church’s youth programs and quickly fell in love with the KAH community. For the past seven years, she has proudly served as a Center Director, guiding her program and watching children grow from kindergarten through their upper elementary years. Outside of KAH, Scarlett is a Blake High School graduate, an avid cook, and a dedicated craft lover—her Cricut is always in action. She enjoys spending time with her spouse and their three kids, whether they’re relaxing at home or heading to the beach. Scarlett is excited for another wonderful year and looks forward to creating lasting memories with your children.

Meet the Center Director

Shanna Wilson

Hi Cannon Road families! I’m Shanna Wilson, and I’m thrilled to be your new Kids After Hours Director. I’ve been part of KAH since I was a kid myself, starting as a staff member at 15—and 14 years later, I still love creating the fun, supportive environment I grew up in.

One of my proudest accomplishments was serving as Head of Adventure Camp at Flora Singer and seeing former KAH kids return as staff, inspired by their time in our program. I’m a Northwood High School graduate and hold a BA in Human Resource Management from UMGC.

When I’m not at KAH, you’ll find me relaxing with my dog, Bella, who is convinced she runs the show. I can’t wait to get to know your children and make this year unforgettable!

Meet the Center Director

Will Sickels

Greetings Carderock families! I’m Will Sickels, and I’m thrilled to be your Kids After Hours Program Director. After spending two years working in Colorado schools, I’m excited to be back home with the KAH community. I began my career as a history teacher in MCPS before discovering my passion for working with Kids After Hours, eventually serving as the Program Director at Highland View Elementary for four years. I’ve also spent nearly every summer at KAH Skateboard Camp—a place that feels like home. At KAH, I love putting on performances, creating art galleries, playing sports in the gym, and yes… sneaking a few fun history lessons into our activities whenever I can.

Meet the Center Director

Matt Wellen

Matt has been part of the Kids After Hours family since 2005 and has been a dedicated school-year director for 17 years. During the summer, he leads our Explorers Camp, guiding our youngest travel campers through outdoor adventures and local explorations. At KAH, you can usually find Matt playing GaGa, running group games, or defending his title as the undefeated Jenga champion. Outside of camp, he and his wife, Ellen (a Cloverly teacher), stay busy adventuring with their four kids. As a proud former Cloverly Cub, Matt loves giving back to the community that shaped him.

Jarrell Jones

Hi KAH Families! I’m Jarrell Jones, and I’m excited to begin my 9th year with Kids After Hours. I was inspired by the amazing coaches and teachers I had growing up, and KAH has given me the perfect place to give that same support to today’s kids. My favorite part of being a Director is creating a space where kids feel safe, supported, and excited to show up each day. You never know what a child is carrying, and being someone who can brighten their day means everything to me. Outside of KAH, I love watching football and basketball and spending time with my busy family—I’m right in the middle of five brothers! Danielle Hall

Hi KAH Families! I’m Danielle Hall, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to another great year with Kids After Hours. This fall marks my 12th year with KAH, inspired by my wonderful grandma, who taught me the magic of play, laughter, and creativity. I try to bring that same spirit to our program every day. What I love most about directing is seeing the impact KAH has—whether it’s hearing from current families or watching former students return to volunteer. Those full-circle moments mean everything. Outside of KAH, I enjoy reading, arts and crafts, Disney movies (especially Monsters Inc.), and spending time with my big, fun-loving family. I’m married, have a wonderful daughter, and share my home with three adorable dogs.

Meet the Center Director

Leo Thompson

Hi! I’m Leo Thompson, and I’m proud to be the Director at Page Elementary. KAH has been my second home for 19 years. Becoming the Director at Page is one of my proudest accomplishments. Supporting kids as they grow, laugh, and make memories is what I love most. When I’m not at KAH, you’ll find me gaming, watching wrestling, or going to live events with fellow KAH Directors Todd and Andrew. I’m a Springbrook High and HCC graduate who believes in family, community, and keeping things fun—there’s always room for a good laugh.
